Like dairy protein, plant proteins are ideal for building muscle if they are taken in the right way. The main challenge to plant proteins is poor digestibility, which can sometimes lead to a waste of protein. Highly digestible plant proteins will offer increased amino acid absorption, which in turn helps lean muscle growth. A study whose results were published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition proved that the type of protein taken doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to building muscle mass. Instead, the amount of that protein is what is important in this case. Taking more protein, regardless of whether it is an animal or plant protein, increases the amount of building blocks that the body has to repair muscles. It also stimulates new muscle growth.
