A nonpolar amino acid is glycine. It is the most basic of the 20 natural amino acids, and a hydrogen atom makes up its side chain. Glycine is not optically active because it has a second hydrogen atom at the carbon's position. Glycine can fit in many spaces where no other amino acid can because of its short side chain.
